Our ski instructor Pasi's English is excellent but he struggles with pronunciation of certain words. It took us an hour one day to work out that when he said root-em to describe a technique to all ski down like synchronised swimmers with the same turns/speed etc that he was actually saying rhythm. Tuesday night I went on a 28 km snowmobile safari.  Was expecting it to be follow the tour guide at a gentle pace type of thing.  Wrong. Spent the day after the game in south Shropshire. Specifically we went to Ironbridge, home of the world's 1st iron bridge and we climbed the Wrekin, a very popular hill to climb. Very deceptive in that you keep thinking you're at the top only to find another ascent to make. Ben was very proud of himself making it all the was to the 1335 feet summit.

Ben was a happy lad after the West Ham kids Christmas party. There were 5 players there - Tomkins, Collison, Sears, Reid & Lansbury. Had a wander around Changi Village which is by the beach. Not dissimilar to Redcliffe or Wynnum i.e walking path along the bay, lots of family BBQ's. Ben and I hired bikes for a while. Not humid or hot, quite pleasant. Early tea at one of the outdoor restaurants back in the village. Went to Martin Mere which is a wildlife conservation park..mainly birds. Pretty impressive with several hides overlooking a large lake. Picked up a hire car and drove to a small village near Canterbury in Kent called Chathem Hatch. Staying in a 12th century manor house. At the airport departure gate Ben was speaking to some little Japanese girls named Mi & Yui.
