So we got into Singapore at 9.30pm local time (11.30pm Brisbane time) and we are staying for 2 nights. I've been letting Carole have a free hand at picking places to stay. She normal runs things past me but ahem, well, I might not always be the most attentive listener. So it was with dismay that I found out en-route that our 2 nights in Singapore were in different hotels. 1st night was a cheapy in a red light district. The 2nd was in a fancy 5 star near the airport because we have an early morning flight to London.
I say dismay mainly because I figured when you've got only one full day in a place you may as well have it uninterrupted and well it's only money :) Anyway the Fragrance Hotel was clean and fine to get our heads down and we had a nice Asian breakfast at a cafe round the corner. I asked Carole if she knew what the umbrella's were for that 2 or 3 girls were using. "To keep the sun off of course". Bzzzt. She took some convincing to believe that they were working girls, and I must admit they didn't look like you would expect.
Anyway on to the Changi Village Hotel where we got talked into the executive upgrade that includes 2 hours of cocktails, breakfast, a better room, free internet and use of the executive lounge where I'm typing this on a fancy Mac listening to music on the sound system and munching on the free bananas and juice. Had a swim in the roof top pool earlier. Could get used to this. We're also flying Malaysian Airlines to London in keeping with the poor man rich man theme after Jetstar to Singapore.
